After the fusion with the local rival Automecanica Moreni in the year 1977 it was called from now on Flacăra Automecanica Moreni but in 1990 changed again to Flacăra Moreni. Sportily Flacăra Moreni was mostly in the Divizia B and the Divizia C of Romania, but in the year 1986 they leap into the highest Romanian football league Divizia A. There they reached their best placement in the season 1988/89 with the 4th place. This led in the following season to the participation in the UEFA Cup, in which Flacăra Moreni in the 1st round was ruled out against the FC Porto after two defeats 2-0 away and 2-1 home. Likewise in the 1990/91 Flacăra was relegated from Divizia A. After the relegation from the Divizia C in the year 2005, wee see Flacăra playing in the Liga IV.
